This tansu, from the Horne collection, is constructed with Japanese Keyaki carcass, Figured Ash drawers, Tamo Ash drawer faces and stands 14.75" wide by 7.25" deep and 11.5" tall.

This tansu has a unique story. The Japanese Keyaki wood used to construct the carcass of the tansu was reclaimed from the floors of an old Japanese home before it was demolished. As an homage to the tansu's past life, the chest was constructed with four drawers. The number four is significant because it is pronounced the same as "death" in Japanese. This special tansu captures the essence of the home it used to be and allows it to live on as a beautiful chest.

This tansu was crafted using reclaimed Keyaki floorboards imported from Japan. As a hint to the tansu's former life, a single nail hole is visible on the top of the chest.
